Become an academy governor for students with SEND

We're looking for a community governor to join our Local Governing Body at Co-op Academy Southfield in Bradford. Southfield is a secondary special school, providing education for students aged 11 to 19 years with clearly identified special educational needs. Our governors work with school leaders to make sure that the academy is doing the very best it can to keep students safe and help them achieve their potential. They have a crucial role in: 1. Setting the academy’s strategy, and making sure that the Co-op values and Ways of Being are part and parcel of school life 2. Holding the headteacher to account for the performance of the school and its pupils 3. Making sure that the academy spends its money in the most effective way possible.

Skills

We're looking for governors who can help us connect with our SEND community, the healthcare professionals we work closely with, or our local community. Your insights will ensure we can continue to meet the needs of our students. We welcome governors from a variety of backgrounds and with a wide range of professional and voluntary experience, and can support you to become a confident governor through training and development opportunities. The most important attributes in our governors are a drive to improve the education and experience of pupils in our academies and a commitment to the communities in which our academies are based.
