Group volunteer arts/photography

The Why Don't We group meet every Thursday morning at Cottingley Comminuty centre. We're looking for one or two volunteers to support the group members, who each have autism and/or a learning disability. The group is led by two professional artists and take part in creative activities, particularly photography.

Skills

You don't need any particular knowledge or expertise, just a general enthusiasm for creativity and working collaboratively.

    The centre has level access and an accessible toilet.

    Over 18s only.
  • DBS check required
    Working with vulnerable adults so a DBS check is required.

    Can reimburse travel expenses for public transport or mileage up to £12 per round trip. You will need to email copies of your tickets/receipts to claim.

    Weekly support from group leaders and regular meetings with the whole team.

    A meeting with staff to start you off and then support and instruction from our group leaders.

    We have appropriate employer and public liability insurance. Please note your personal belongings are not insured and you should not bring valuable items to sessions.
  • Written role description
    Duties: • To contribute to projects by taking part in activities / sharing ideas • Encouraging members of the group to engage in activities at hand • Offering support to members if and when requested • Assist in setting-up before a session and tidying / cleaning afterwards • Co-working within the group • To work in accordance with Pyramid of Arts’ Policies and Procedures • To attend training sessions as required (our Foundation course is compulsory) • Contribute to member reviews and debrief at the end of every session • Attend a Core Worker, Artist and Volunteer (CAV) meeting each term (optional) Person specification: • Cheerful and friendly disposition • Punctual and reliable • Willingness to work flexibly • Commitment to and enthusiasm for the arts • Willingness to undertake training where required • Works across boundaries, looks for collective success; listens, involves, respects and learns from the contribution of others
