To engage, encourage and equip those experiencing social isolation and destitution by providing emotional support to an individual or family on a 1-1 basis through telephone calls and visits and identifying signposting and onward referral opportunities.

Desirable: - A basic understanding of the asylum system in the UK. - An awareness or understanding of vulnerability, mental ill health and the impacts of social isolation. - Previous experience (paid or voluntary) of supporting vulnerable adults. - A second language.

Availability Details
The role is flexible; the minimum commitment is 1 hour per week which will be arranged around the availability of both the befriender and the befriendee. 6 month initial minimum commitment to the project.
