This role involves collecting residents from 9.00am and bring them to Abbeyfield Bingley then collect them from Abbeyfield Bingley at 3.00pm and return them to their homes. For day trips (e.g. from Bingley to Skipton then a trip on a barge with lunch included) residents of Abbeyfield are collected and taken to their destination. Volunteers can join in the fun and have lunch. You may have to assist residents with getting into and out of the vehicle when required and also ensure any walking aids, wheelchairs etc are safely stowed. This role is flexible - mornings and/or afternoons. MiDAS (Minibus Driver Assessment) training is provided by Abbeyfield and training on using a tailgate lift will also be provided. This is an invaluable role which allows our service users to remain active, meet other people and to enjoy activities at the community hub. It allows assists in providing respite for carers. You will be supported by our small, friendly house team and you will have lots of fun spending time with our inspirational staff and service users. Abbeyfield is a national charity dedicated to the care and support of older people. Our vision is 'making time for older people' and we see volunteers as crucial in helping us achieve this.
