We Care Musical Concert (virtual) - Event Manager

Our backs need support’

The National Back Pain Association more commonly known as BackCare is a long-established charity, founded in 1968.

As a stroke of luck we have recently been offered the use of office space, without cost and we are heading to Bradford to take advantage of it and form a regional base. This is a fantastic opportunity for BackCare and one that not only every charity dreams of but also one that we here at BackCare want to make the most of and we are looking for your help.

Backs are our business and as an independent charity we want to expand on the practical and emotional support that we offer people living with back pain whether caused through wear and tear, injury, musculoskeletal disorders such as Axial SpA, Spina Bifida, Scoliosis and Arthritis or other underlying health conditions like Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Cancer, for example. However, although that sounds a lot, our work just doesn’t stop there as we are also focused on preventable back injury through education and information and we do this through our BackCare Awareness Programme.

We have an amazing Board of Trustees and a Health Advisory Board with business people and healthcare professionals alike that between them assist us to be the best that we can.

As part of our work we respond to telephone calls and emails from back pain sufferers and produce, what are ‘held up to be’ gold standard publications, like the ‘Handling of People’ which is used in many healthcare settings throughout the UK to ensure the safety of both those delivering and those receiving care in emergency and regular medical interventions.

Our volunteers:

We already have a number of people dotted throughout the UK who lend their time to BackCare in many different ways and all at times to suit their lifestyle and personal commitments which is what volunteering is all about.

All we ask from you is for a commitment to undertake the task that you sign up for and we will do everything we can to support you.

People choose to volunteer for many different reasons. For some, it is to expand upon your CV and you will benefit from the experience and we will certainly aim to help you to hone your skills. For others of you, retirement will help you to bring a lifetime of skills to BackCare. There are many different types of roles too. Some are ongoing and others involve event management. Some will involve some time spent in the Bradford office whilst others can be entirely undertaken at home. Some volunteers will want to be part of a friendly office environment whilst others will prefer being at home. You volunteer, you choose, and that is the beauty about volunteering.
