We are a Community Interest Company (CIC) called Great Minds Together (GMT) and we provide a free family wraparound service for families of children and young people with special educational needs and social, emotional and mental health issues. GMT's Head office is based in Stockport but we have recently expanded our service into West Yorkshire. We are looking for volunteer mentors who can provide a mentoring service to our young people. This could include a virtual meet up, face to face, accompanying young people to activities or delivering some sessions on how to deal with their issues. GMT prides itself on ensuring the child's voice is heard and adopts a child first approach to everything we do. You would be part of a team who have a wealth of knowledge and experience and we provide training and support to all staff including volunteers. You would be required to undertake safeguarding checks including a full enhanced DBS and references before undertaking any work with children or young people.
Skills
We are looking for people who can engage well with children and young people and have an empathetic and caring nature. You would need to have a basic understanding of the issues facing children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and social, emotional and mental health issues. Above all, we are looking for people who have a passion and want to make a difference to the lives of children and young people.
