Opportunities with SapgateGardens

About

Sapgate Gardens is a community garden space in the heart of Thornton. It has been rescued from being a wasteland and dumping ground and is now a peaceful space. It is about half a acre, and there are established fruit trees, veg plots and flower beds. There are benches so people can sit and enjoy the views and the birds. The space is supported and maintained by volunteers who work with local schools to develop an interest in outdoor spaces.
We have created hedges and paths to divide the space up. There are motion sensitive lights so that people feel safe, walking through when it is dark.
Sapgate Gardens takes part in the annual Open Gardens event in Thornton and works closely with the Community litter pick. A recent development has been setting up some talks on relevant topics such as dry stone walling and bee keeping.
Volunteer opportunities exist for people of any level of skill to join and help maintain, develop and plan.
