Opportunities with WellWalkCiC

About

WellWalkCIC is a community organisation that supports people in Ilkley, Menston and Burley in Wharfedale to improve their wellbeing through gentle, supportive walking companionship. We work with individuals who may be experiencing isolation, low confidence, mental health challenges, physical health issues or difficulty accessing community activities. Our Walk Buddies provide one‑to‑one weekly walks, offering friendly conversation, encouragement and a safe, non‑judgemental space for people to reconnect with their surroundings.

We support residents who may feel anxious about going outdoors alone, are recovering from illness or injury, or simply need consistent social contact to rebuild confidence. Our model is simple and effective: each beneficiary is matched with a trained volunteer who walks with them in their local area, helping them feel safer, more connected and more able to engage with everyday life.

Our volunteers are compassionate, reliable and committed to supporting people at their own pace. We maintain strong safeguarding practices, clear boundaries and structured monitoring through our personalised CRM system. Referrals come from social prescribers, community organisations, professionals, family members and individuals themselves.

Overall, WellWalkCIC provides a human, accessible and preventative wellbeing intervention that strengthens community connection, improves mental health and helps people rebuild confidence one step at a time.
