Sapgate Gardens are a community space in the middle of Thornton BD13. We are all volunteers. We are creating and maintaining veg and flowers beds. The space is open access. We welcome volunteers with skills or to learn skills and bring ideas. The site is South facing and sloping. There are wide gravel/sand paths which are ok for wheelchairs part of the way down. There are no toilets or refreshments on site, but the community centre is nearby and the toilets can sometimes be used there. We cannot offer one to one support but people have come to join in, bringing a support person and that has worked well. We meet on a Thursday from about 10.30-13.00 and the last Sat of each month from March - September, 10 ish til 13.00 ish
Skills
Useful skills are weeding, planting, pruning, hedge laying. But we can all learn together so enthusiasm is more important. We sometimes work with school groups and their teachers.
