Champion volunteers promote PAPYRUS and the work we do, such as our helpline, HOPELINEUK (just like our Awareness Raisers). This is done in person (e.g., posters, attending school wellbeing fairs, Pride and other events) and online (e.g., TikTok, Instagram, Facebook). e is presenting SP-ARKs (Suicide Prevention – Awareness, Resources, Knowledge) to help equip communities with the skills to support their young people - attending events etc. The difference between our awareness raising volunteers and our Champions is that Champions deliver SPARK presentations in their own community. While we sometimes bring sessions to you and ask if you're available, part of this role is finding your own opportunities to deliver a SPARK presentation. It is a flexible opportunity and volunteers are encouraged and supported to look at where they can target to raise awareness in their local communities.
Skills
Confidence in speaking to people - or at least the willingness to push yourself to grow in confidence in this role
Presentation skills - we don't expect you to already be confident in delivering presentations as long as you're willing to learn and grow in confidence in doing this
Self motivation - some of this role involves motivating yourself to network with people in your community to find opportunities to deliver our SPARK presentation
