Visitor Experience / Cafe Support

Join the vibrant team at the newly opened Bronte Birthplace to help run our visitor experience programme! Greet people from all over the world, help run our ticket desk and gift shop, support the tearoom and take part in brilliant cultural and educational events. We strive to involve our volunteers as much as possible in informing how we operate, and foster strong bonds. We ask our volunteers to commit to at least one shift per month, which can range from a few hours to a full day.

Skills

- Communication Skills - Comfortable with meeting new people and chatting about the Birthplace - Organisational Skills - Basic Computer Literacy - Access to Email & Whatsapp for communication and rota - Food Hygiene & Serving Food (Not required - training provided) - Interest in History, Literature & the Bronte Family (Not essential!)


Details

  • Accessibility
    The Birthplace is accessible to wheelchair users on the Ground Floor only and ramps are needed to enter the building. The house was recently renovated with accessability in mind, and so features a chair lift and disabled bathroom, but is in places narrow and uneven. We are more than happy to work with volunteers with specific access needs to find productive ways forward, don't hesistate to reach out with any questions!

Availability Details

We are open to the public Thursday & Friday 12pm - 3pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am - 4pm, and hold events on a regular basis in the afternoons and evenings. We also run group tours and school visits on Monday - Wednesday, which can sometimes require volunteer help.
