Face-to-Face Befriender (Volunteer) – 1 hour per week.To provide friendly, social support to an individual who may feel isolated or lonely, through a regular face-to-face visit for around one hour per week.

Befriender Volunteer As a Befriender Volunteer, you will provide companionship and support to residents, particularly those who are isolated or need assistance with social activities. Responsibilitie. • Visit the person in their home or an agreed safe community location (e.g., café, community centre) • Offer companionship through friendly conversation and listening • Encourage confidence and social connection through regular contact • Take part in simple activities if appropriate (e.g., a short walk, chatting over tea, light games) • Maintain appropriate boundaries and keep the relationship supportive and respectful • Report any concerns to the community development team

Skills

Skills/Qualifications: •• Friendly, patient, and reliable person • Good listening skills and an understanding attitude • Able to commit to a regular weekly visit • Respectful of confidentiality and personal boundaries • Comfortable meeting someone who may have mental health needs, disability, or loneliness.
