Community Garden Assistant

Role Summary

The role of Volunteer Community Garden Assistant will contribute to the development and maintenance of our community garden which serves our local community. Volunteer Community Garden Assistant will also provide a friendly face for visitors to the garden.

Main Duties Include

• Helping with the general upkeep of the garden • Seed sowing, propagation, nursery work, planting out • Weeding, deadheading and general care of beds and borders • Pruning and care of shrubs and trees • Grass cutting and edging • Composting • Maintain good health and safety practices *Tasks can be variable depending on the season, needs of the garden and weather.

Skills and Experience

• Enthusiasm for gardening • Warm and friendly person with positive attitude towards helping people • Ability to work as part of a team and independently • A non-judgemental approach and commitment to our equal opportunities policy and centre ethos • Reasonably fit and willing to work out of doors in all weathers *Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy boots and bring weather appropriate clothing.
