Health Coach

Primary Care Dietitians and Abilities Together are working with Bradford Living Well Services to provide Living Well APNA, a Healthy Lifestyle Programme specifically for residents from the South Asian population.

Living Well APNA will be a 12-week programme running throughout the year about improving diet, increasing movement and physical activity and ways to make new habits last.

Each week will include educational activities and some movement or physical activity, tailored to the way people from South Asian Communities eat, drink and move.

We are looking for Volunteers to represent their Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Indian communities, ideally with good knowledge of traditional and Westernised diets and cultures and able to speak Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati or Bangladesh as appropriate in addition to English.

Skills

1. Cultural Awareness: Understanding of South Asian traditions, diets, and lifestyles. Sensitivity to cultural and religious practices.

2. Language Skills: Ability to speak relevant languages (e.g., Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, or Bangla) alongside English.

3. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Friendly and empathetic, with strong listening skills. Confident in engaging and facilitating group discussions.

4. Basic Knowledge of Health and Nutrition: Familiarity with healthy eating principles and the ability to adapt them to South Asian cuisines.

5. Passion for Community Development: Enthusiasm for promoting health and wellbeing within South Asian communities.
