Tramway Maintenance

We are looking for volunteers to work with the maintenance team of the historic Shipley Glen Tramway. The role is very varied and you could get involved in a wide range of practical activities. These include maintaining the tracks by replacing sleepers; keeping the trams looking fresh by repairing and painting them; making sure everything runs smoothly; keeping the buildings in good repair and much more. You will work as part of small team of people who have a wide range of skills so it's a great opportunity to learn as well. Some of the work will take place in a well equipped workshop but much of the work will be based outdoors.

Skills

Ideally you will have practical skills and be prepared to get stuck in to a range of tasks. People with specific skills such as carpentry, mechanical or electrical engineering or metalwork skills would be very welcome but these skills are not essential. More important are a good level of physical fitness, a willingness to work outdoors and a flexible attitude.
